The Final Frontier: Home Spaces

It’s a feel good story which should inspire us all.

Cornered Space Alien has recently learned of a growing trend - smart phone free and even screen free rooms and areas in the home. These spaces include kitchens, living rooms, recreation rooms and dining rooms. But wait there’s more. Now, we have learned of Dedicated digital free zones which include music listening rooms.

It appears the non dedicated rooms are not necessarily 24/7 screen free. Many parents designate specific screen free time periods within these rooms and areas. One may argue whether time slices for these areas or 24/7 screen free is better. Cornered Space Alien, for now, would opt for the time slices scenario as this most likely gives family members a moment to really think about their phone use. (More on time slices in a future blog).
